Special License Plates Tag Careless Drivers Special license plates for traffic violators are being considered as a safety measure by Cliff Davis, commissioner of public safety in Memphis, Tenn. If the measure is adopted motorists who persistently break traffic laws will be required to run in their regular licence plates for special tags, similar to that shown in the photograph above, bearing a skull and the words “traffic-law violator.” - Popular Science Mar, 1939

Jalacy Hawkins, best known as Screamin' Jay Hawkins (July 18, 1929 – February 12, 2000) was an African-American musician, singer, and actor. Famed chiefly for his powerful, operatic vocal delivery and wildly theatrical performances of songs such as "I Put a Spell on You" and "Constipation Blues," Hawkins sometimes used macabre props onstage, probably making him the first shock rocker. From Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screamin%27_Jay_Hawkins

Screamin’ Jay Hawkins — I Put A Spell On You “Hawkins originally envisioned the tune as a refined ballad.” The entire band was intoxicated during a recording session where “Hawkins screamed, grunted, and gurgled his way through the tune with utter drunken abandon.” The resulting performance was no ballad but instead a “raw, guttural track” that became his greatest commercial success and surpassed a million copies in sales. Hannes Bok, Mambaloa, 1947. Hannes Bok, pseudonym for Wayne Woodard (July 2, 1914–April 11, 1964), was an American artist and illustrator, as well as an amateur astrologer and writer of fantasy fiction and poetry. He painted nearly 150 covers for various science fiction, fantasy, and detective fiction magazines, as well as contributing hundreds of black and white interior illustrations. Bok's work graced the pages of calendars and early fanzines, as well as dust jackets from specialty book publishers like Arkham House, Llewellyn, Shasta, and Fantasy Press. His paintings achieved a luminous quality through the use of an arduous glazing process, which was learned from his mentor, Maxfield Parrish. Bok was the first artist to win a Hugo Award. - from Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hannes_Bok

Members of The New York Dolls stroll up theChamps Elysées toward the Arc de Triomphe, Paris, November 1973. © Alain Dister. Rock n' roll photo ops trump traffic regulations and common courtesy. That's covered in Rock Entitlement 203. This Dister shot was probably staged like a 1000 other shots on the Champs, but when I was holed up in the Hotel Astrid down at the end of avenue Carnot (off camera to the right) back in '06, it never occurred to *me* to do such a thing. I mean negotiating the traffic around and approaching the Arc is not for the faint of heart.

Check out this Octopus pin that was an addition to the Syd Barrett Opel fanzine. The button was only available to the subscribers of the Syd Barrett 'OPEL' Fanzine. The year of this was 1984. The name 'OPEL' came from the name of an unreleased song from the Madcap Sessions. The button has the Octopus logo from the song of the same name released 11/14/1969 on the Harvest label.

Mrs. Schroeder's friend claims to have photographed an object of light in a cave, and did not see this creature until after the film was developed. Born to DieThe Rodeheavers They look to be in some kind of sick, cult-of-the-damned, death pact. Born to Die is also a 1976 album by Grand Funk Railroad. And a 1763 poem by Charles Wesley:

And am I only born to die?
And must I suddenly comply
With nature’s stern decree?
What after death for me remains?
Celestial joys, or hellish pains,
To all eternity?

How then ought I on earth to live,
While God prolongs the kind reprieve
And props the house of clay?
My sole concern, my single care,
To watch, and tremble, and prepare
Against the fatal day.

No room for mirth or trifling here,
For worldly hope, or worldly fear,
If life so soon is gone:
If now the Judge is at the door,
And all mankind must stand before
The inexorable throne!

No matter which my thoughts employ,
A moment’s misery, or joy;
But O! when both shall end,
Where shall I find my destined place?
Shall I my everlasting days
With fiends, or angels spend?
