Let's Get Some of These Borrowed Christmas Images & Tunes Outta the Way

http://ttexshexes.blogspot.com/2009/12/lets-get-some-of-these-borrowed.html

December 1st is here & the Christmas bullies are rising up everywhere.  Last year was my first major Christmas for blogging, re-blogging, curating & xmas bulling.  So I really went at it & put together some nice collections of images, tunes & holiday bull.  Now I'm not particularly in the Christmas mood yet this year, when it seems like there is Christmas uber-overload at every turn.  But recently, I finally got around to looking at those stat charts Big Brother Blogspot puts together for the serious, driven, self-aware bloggers.  Guess what?  The series of Borrowed Christmas Images are continually dominating my stats & graphs.  So here is the first of a series of re-blogs of last years Christmas re-blogs...

Santa School Images from the Life Magazine Photo Archive
The Life Magazine Photo Archive http://images.google.com/hosted/life is a great time waster. Typing in random nouns or verbs and seeing what nineteen fifties artsy fartsy gems appear is grand fun. Check out the archive's large gallery of photos from a Santa School. Pick a noun, Christmas or otherwise, and kiss several hours away

Santa In Animal Land (1948) Christmas Puppet Show. Slightly frightening puppet animals are upset that Santa Claus only brings gifts to kids, so Kitty Kat hunts down the official Santa Claus for animals. "You can thank me for your holiday nightmares later."

This is a very cool store wrap on a giant roll. Judging from the graphics, the tomato-red/chartreuse, and the older roll it is on, I think it is early to mid 60's.

From: http://ratb0y69.blogspot.com/2009/12/fleshtones-stocking-stuffer.html

The Fleshtones - Stocking Stuffer @ 320 kbps - Covers are included

1. Hurray for Santa Claus 2. Six White Boomers 3. Super Rock Santa 4. You're All I Want for Christmas 5. Champagne of Christmas 6. Canadian Christmas 7. Mr. Santa Claus 8. Christmas With Bazooka Joe 9. Run, Rudolph, Run! 10. I Still Believe in Christmas 11. In Midnight's Silence

From the garage rock gods who brought the world ''Super Rock,'' Stocking Stuffer is the Christmas album for music fans who hate run-of-the mill Christmas music. The Fleshtones just want to rock and they re not about to let peace on earth or good will toward men get in the way. ''Hooray for Santa Claus'' opens the disc with a speaker busting ode to the guy
in the big red suit and ''Champagne of Christmas'' looks back to The Fleshtones classic R&B roots while extolling the virtues of more than a little yuletide bubbly. Stocking Stuffer is festive enough to get you in the holiday mood but rocks hard enough to keep the eggnog flowing through mistletoe make-out sessions and drunken sing-a-longs. If Santa is
cool enough to leave this little gem in your stocking, this year you ll actually look forward to Christmas music!

I like this strange, vintage paper very much. The graphics are bit unsettling and the colors quite quirky...
